PENCILicious

I’m doing Basic Skills Training for the Nth time for the Nth job… But as they say, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going…

Moving on, we had an essay activity wherein where we choose one out of three topics. I choose the topic that is more familiar to me. I chose “Explain three uses for a pencil besides writing.”

I can explain several uses for a pencil but I will cite the three uses that are charged to experience and experimentation.

First use is as weapon of choice. I was in prep, the level after pre-school and before starting grade 1. One of my classmates stabbed my left hand between my middle and pointing fingers because he was furious and jealous that my other classmate gave me his stickers. We ended up at the principal’s office.

Next use is for personal leisure. When I was in high school, my best friend has a sister who relentlessly collects pencils in all shapes, sizes, and colors. She neatly placed her collection in a big canister. Curious, I asked my best friend why her sister collects them. She sarcastically commented,”She doesn’t have a boyfriend, that’s why.” After hearing that, I swore not to touch those pencils ever again.

The last use that I can think of is for gastronomic use. A pair of pencils can replace chopsticks during a sudden Asian take out at the office. But I would definitely think twice before using pencils because of the chance of getting sick due to lead poisoning.

Nevertheless, therefore I conclude that pencils should only be used in perpetuity for it’s intended use, that is for writing and drawing. Seriously!

What’s Love Got to Do with It?

I just watched “And I Love You So”at the Robinson Movieworld with my sibling who is a Sam Milby fan.

From a range of 1-10 with 10 as the highest, I rate the movie directed by Laurenti Dyogi as 6.

I find the story bland. As Kris Aquino says in her tv commercial for a popular condiment, “Kailangan ng Magic!” The dubbing is also poorly edited as I have observed.

Though the good chemistry of Sam Milby and Bea Alonzo, bulked up with cheesy dialogues is somewhat entertaining but I just hope they have utilized Ms. Coney Reyes more for she is a very bankable actress.

I just hope that the movie do well in the box office despite what Boy Abunda reported in SNN that the movie is showing in all movie theatres, except SM Cinemas.

Angels and Darnas

GMA 7 decided to re-launch the Philippine superheroine, Darna to primetime television. But this time, it is starred by Marian Rivera.

Previously, it was starred by Angel Locsin which after reaching stardom in GMA shows such as Mulawin, Darna, Majika, and Asian Treasures, switched to ABS-CBN for more stardom.

But it is quite obvious that the kapuso network is taunting Angel by emphasizing on some details of the new Darna such the transformation shout “Darna!” which Marian shouts herself. Unlike before, it was Regine Velasquez who does the shouting for Angel.

Another taunting detail is the story of the new Darna which is the predecessor chosen by the original Darna portrayed by Angel Aquino.

GMA recently reported the sky high rating of the pilot episode of the new Darna but due to that they get their ratings from AGB Nielsen which has crude reputation in providing accurate TV ratings, I hope GMA will put their money where their mouth is.

But for me, there could only one who conquers…

sa lupa…

sa dagat…

at sa alapaap…

at iyon ay ang nag-iisang… Dyosa! Hahaha!

Dear Kris

Dear Kris,

I honestly do not know where to send you a fan mail so I just posted it here on my blog.

I started becoming your fan when I watched the movie, “Mano Po”… You really deserved that MMFF Best supporting actress award. I hope you can make a sequel to that with a reunion with Maricel Soriano and Ara Mina.

I can say that I am not really that “die-hard” type of fan but more of a sophisticated one.

I like a lot about you but I not everything about you.

I always liked your San Miguel Beer commercial with Derek Ramsey, the one where you are driving a Ferrari. Since then, I have been collecting Ferrari car models.

I like also your fashion sense, with an exception of your “Game Ka Na Ba?” trench coats which you have in multiple colors. But at least you have redeemed yourself after that with designer gowns and ternos.

We are both Aquarians. I was born February 13, 1983. I guess that attributes a lot why I like you.

I just wrote this letter to tell you how much I am saddened of the passing of your mom. Seeing you cry really made me cry. I felt your pain and your loss.

The best time I saw you on TV with your mom was when you had that exclusive interview with Korina Sanchez on TV Patrol few years back. After that said interview, your mom, facing away from the cameras comforted and hugged as you kept on crying on her shoulder uttering, “ Mom, I’m sorry.” I can’t explain the exact feeling that I felt watching that but I somewhat felt secured for you.

I am your fan because in your imperfection, you always do your best to be the best that you can be in your every endeavor, even in thank you speech in Manila Cathedral.

But as your fan, I understand if you won’t be your usual self for the meantime.

After all, there is that big loss and emptiness in your heart for your mom.

Take your time for a time out.

Nevertheless, I am still your fan no matter what.

Hindi ka nag-iisa…

I hope you can read this.

Take care.

God bless.
